Research in non-equilibrium statistical physics and biophysics at Nordita explores how complex soft and biological matter behaves when driven away from thermal equilibrium. Using stochastic modeling together with theoretical and computational approaches, we study systems ranging from colloids and macromolecules to active matter and molecular motors, while also developing fundamental concepts needed to understand fluctuations, transport, and energy conversion in living and synthetic systems.
